Description- JLS Service Day is an opportunity for service-oriented students to volunteer their time and give back to their community. JLS Service Day volunteers will complete hands-on projects with a select community agency. All service sites are within walking distance of JLS.
JLS Service Day Agenda:
2:30 - Dismissal from School
2:40 - JLS Service Day Meeting (break into service site groups and get ready to leave)
3:00 - Leave for service sites
3:15 - Service!
4:45 - Walk back to JLS
5:00 - Quick reflection and End of Event
Service Site Descriptions:
JLS Library- Volunteers will be removing books from library shelves, cleaning the shelves, and then reshelving the books.
Mitchell Park Library - Volunteers will be wiping books clean and cutting flower petals out of card stock for a craft project.
The Stevenson House - At the independent senior living community, volunteers will be assisting in cleaning and organizing the Arts and Crafts/ Game Room as well as other small projects to help the residents’ activities staff.
Project WeHope (on JLS Campus) - Volunteers will make no-sew blankets that will be donated to Project WeHope, a local organization dedicated to supporting the local unhoused population.
