Description

CERT training is a national program designed to prepare residents to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the event of a disaster. The training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. Palo Alto's Office of Emergency Services holds CERT trainings twice a year. During CERT Field Day newly-trained neighbors practice the skills they've learned in the past few weeks. As volunteer "survivors" you will be rescued and/or treated for injuries by our new CERTs. We greatly value your participation and hope you'll find CERT Field Day to be a worthwhile experience.

Volunteers 13+ welcome!

Volunteers: No preparation is necessary, you will be assigned a role after you arrive. If you want community service credit you must bring your school form for our signature. At completion of the exercise, by 4 pm, you can receive 4 hours of community service credit on your school form. You must sign a Volunteer Waiver Form; if under 18 years old, a parent must sign the form so that you can participate. Volunteers will be "rescued" and/or treated for "wounds" so please dress appropriately: clothes you don't mind possibly getting dirty, long pants, long sleeve shirt, sturdy closed-toe and closed-heel shoes (sneakers or equivalent are fine, no sandals, flip flops or shoes with no back). Some of the rooms may be chilly so a jacket or sweatshirt is advisable. Thanks!
