Canopy’s Junior Forester Leadership Program

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Canopy's Junior Forester Leadership program trains high school students as environmental educators and leaders teaching 3rd and 4th grade students about the importance of trees. At after-school programs in Menlo Park and East Palo Alto, these teen leaders will teach "Junior Foresters" about the benefits of tree through hands-on nature based activities. This is a wonderful opportunity for high school teens passionate about the environment to build their confidence as educators, leaders, and stewards of trees!
DETAILS
- Every Tuesday from January 28th through April 1st 2025.
- Limited transportation can be provided.
- Programs take place at Los Robles School in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven School in Menlo Park.
- Planning sessions take place at the Canopy office in Palo Alto.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
- Learn the benefits of trees and urban forestry.
- Receive training in outdoor education and teaching strategies for engaging elementary age students in scientific inquiry and hands-on learning
- Design lessons, games, and activities to teach younger students
about trees.
- Practice teaching and classroom management skills.
- Experience and learn about environmental education as a career.
