About the program:
East Palo Alto's Youth Leadership Core for Emergency & Disaster Preparedness is an exciting, hands-on program designed to train youth in emergency preparedness, leadership, and service-learning. Through this initiative, high school students will gain real-world skills while making a direct impact in East Palo Alto neighbourhoods. Programming will be held once a month on Saturday for 6 hours from September 2025 to June 2026. Participants will:
- Learn life-saving disaster preparedness techniques
- Engage in door-to-door community outreach
- Assess neighborhood safety & emergency readiness
- Build leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills
