Open to high school students from Santa Clara or San Mateo Counties. In collaboration with the City of East Palo Alto, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Menlo Park Fire District, rEPAct, and YCS.

About the program:

East Palo Alto's Youth Leadership Core for Emergency & Disaster Preparedness is an exciting, hands-on program designed to train youth in emergency preparedness, leadership, and service-learning. Through this initiative, high school students will gain real-world skills while making a direct impact in East Palo Alto neighbourhoods. Programming will be held once a month on Saturday for 6 hours from September 2025 to June 2026. Participants will:

  • Learn life-saving disaster preparedness techniques
  • Engage in door-to-door community outreach
  • Assess neighborhood safety & emergency readiness
  • Build leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills
